Calathea 'Makoyana'

Sizes Grown: 4 - 6 - 8

Calathea makoyana

  • Botanical Name: Goeppertia makoyana (formerly Calathea makoyana)

  • Common Name: Peacock Plant

  • Origin: Eastern Brazil

  • Color: Pale green leaves with dark green feathered markings and deep maroon undersides

  • Growth: Upright and airy, with broad leaves on slender stems

Makoyana has one of the thinnest leaf textures in the calathea group, almost translucent when backlit. The markings resemble stained glass, and the undersides show through faintly from above. It tends to grow more vertically than other varieties, with foliage that moves gently in response to light. The leaves are delicate but surprisingly persistent once established.
